MTX: The Intelligent 100 kW Microwave Power Source

With multi-point monitoring, along with upgraded safety and efficiency features, the MTX 100 kW microwave generator sets the new standard for intelligent microwave power generation. Next generation features include modular layout, precise, multi-point digital monitoring, improved electrical safety, and multilayered magnetron protection. The unit also includes a shielded magnetron enclosure, improved low voltage maintenance access, and fully customizable plant control features.

100 kW microwave

Enhanced Reliability

  • Advanced, state-of-the-art multi-layered magnetron protection.
  • High-speed varistor (MOV) surge protector on the high-voltage lines to prevent damage to the magnetron caused by unstable input power.
  • Advanced solenoid control circuit to decrease output power fluctuations.
  • Dual three-phase contactors.
  • Improved high-power circuit with increased power factor, reduced harmonics, and integrated high-speed magnetron overload detection.
  • Multi-point coolant temperature monitoring and data logging to help identify potential problems before they can cause premature failures.
  • Optional controls power buffer module to allow for graceful fault capture and shutdown in the event of a wall-breaker trip.

Safety-Focused Design

  • The magnetron tube is mounted in an internal shielded enclosure, designed to minimize emissions and enhance user safety. This is known as the tube-in-a-box design.
  • Non-defeatable, coded magnetic safety switches on both generator and magnetron enclosure.
  • Safety relay circuit with convenient provision for customer site-specific additions.
  • Line reactor plus unique 300Amp solid state, three phase, SCR assembly for soft start control of HV power supply, including special integrated fusing to protect the tube during start up and rapid shut down. Prevents tube damage, reduces downtime, and increases operator safety (twice the amperage vs. competing units, which provides unique improvement to tube reliability).
  • Sealed stainless steel and water cooled enclosure.
  • Front-mounted control box. Easier and safer to service troubleshoot.

Advanced Intelligent Monitoring

  • Offering real-time oversight of multiple water and air temperature sensors, flow sensors, and pressure sensors.
  • Numerous fault, current, anode, and solenoid monitoring.
  • Comes standard with a large digital HMI located on a user-friendly control panel, equipped with best-in-class Allen-Bradley plant controls, including built-in autonomous troubleshooting and alarms.
  • Ethernet enabled.
  • Data monitoring with options for remote or onboard data storage.

Universal Power Options

  • The MTX 100 kW microwave generator is designed for global use with 460VAC +/- 5%, 3 Phase, 50/60Hz. Standard transformer is configured for 460VAC nominal with taps for 452, 471, or 489V. For 380 or 400VAC, an external step-up transformer can be added or a made-to-order unit designed for 400VAC can be ordered. Advanced microwave units such as the MTX unit should ideally be fed by stable incoming voltage to maximize performance. Typical +/- 1%.
  • The output microwave power can be controlled from 30-100kW with the front HMI or via Ethernet controls.

A Focus on Efficiency and RF Control

  • Extreme efficiency – approaching 80% efficient operation, even with standard magnetron tube losses in the 15-18% range.
  • Highly stable output power of 1% at 100 kW under stable conditions.
  • Output frequency stability of 0.1% at 100 kW at 915 MHz under stable conditions.
